Alice Perry Engineering Building

Voted Irelands favorite building in the Public Choice 2012 RIAI Irish Architecture Awards, the Engineering Building was officially launched in July 2011 by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD.

The world-class teaching and research facility ushered in a new era for Engineering at the University, which has an excellent reputation in Engineering education. Its resourcefulness as a teaching tool is exciting for students and academics with its exposed construction techniques and an array of ecological building methods

The 14,250 sqm building supports an emerging generation of engineers, engaged in a new wave of technologies, embracing innovation and entrepreneurship.

It contains a range of 'green' technologies including largescale rainwater harvesting, a biomass boiler, low-embodied energy materials such as zinc, novel voided slab systems, and grass roofs for water attenuation, heat exchangers and many other cutting-edge technologies.

It has been developed through the generous support of The Atlantic Philanthropies and members of the Corrib Engineering Network.
